“After the training, my newsroom always request me to fact-check most information”

“It has been a great experience for me. Going through #AFFCameron has been a real transformation process. Before the three months training, I have heard about misinformation, disinformation, fake news and fact-checking without knowing their differences and what they are all about. With the training, I have gained skills on fact-checking. The training was a great opportunity for me to upgrade my skills in the fight against hate speech, misinformation and fake news online and within my community. The training was a conscience-awakening process for me as my level of alertness to fake news, hate speech and disinformation is top. When I see such, I draw the attention of perpetrators on different social media platforms.
Skills gained have also helped me do more stories at the level of my newsroom. After the training, my newsroom always requests me to fact-check most information before publishing. After the training I can say that I have become an Ambassador in the fight against hate speech, disinformation, misinformation and fake news. I have trained many young people, Journalists and some community members to be conscious and fight against these ills”.
